When I started my practice, it wasn’t just what was in front of the lens that interested me. I wanted to introduce an element of abstraction by applying post-production techniques to the finished piece. The aim being to encourage the viewer to experience familiar landscapes afresh. Recently, I have become intrigued by the negative image (something which has been lost with digital capture) when working up ideas for possible compositions.

However, these images remained somewhat prescriptive, i.e. my vision of a subject which might or might not resonate with an audience.

Over the past 2 years I have produced a body of work where the subject matter has gradually abstracted into pure colour, shape and texture. A reimagination of the built environment: Man-made subjects are analysed, disrupted and then reassembled in abstract form. I create a space for the viewer to rediscover the line and beauty of urban design and to bring their own emotions to bear upon it.
